About when I first meet Bear

This is about when I first meet Bear my dog. He is with new owners now because he was to much for us to look after. But the person that he is with at the moment loves him and her and my mum are like best friends so we do get to see Bear.

Recycled Art

This term for art we are doing recycled art. For my group we are making a garden shed. With a garden attached to it. In the garden we have bottle cap flowers and cactus rocks. In the garden shed there is a key hock and a light bold plant. We are also making a bird feeder with cans and wood. We still have to do our documentation on it and make the garden shed.

This is my calendar art. I liked doing this art because we got to decide what patterns we used. We got the idea off folk art. It is really cool.

My fun Weekend

This is my writing from long ago. I had such a fun weekend with all of my family and especially playing with Ashley and going to Inflatable World with my dad and brothers. I had such a fun weekend.

My Life Is a Piece of Rubbish - Pick a Path

This is my pick a path story. we have been working on it all week. I am a piece a plastic bag. Everybody in my class had to pick a piece of rubbish that they were going to be I choose to be a plastic bag. We still have to put it in a google form.

Colouring in

This is a picture of me I am colouring in a picture. At reading time we have can dos and must dos. We have to finish our must dos and then we can do our can dos. Once I have finished my must dos I do colouring in because that is on the can do list. I was colouring in a tree with leaves falling off the tree to the ground. SPA

SRA's are reading cards. We do one everyday. I am in Rose which is the second highest group for our class. We started at the end of last term. In an SRA you need to read them and then at the end there are questions you need to answer, you write you answers down in your maths book and then you mark them. You time your self to read it and answer the questions. There are comprehension question and vocabulary questions. All of the questions are to do with the book that you have just read.

Reading Theory

Reading Theory is this reading task that we do in Ruma Piwakawaka. You read a little story and the do some questions about what you have just read. You go up grades and you can also see your progress. You go up different levels. It is fun because you do some reading and then do questions.

Compute It

Compute it is this fun maths game with lots of levels. Some are hard and some are easy. You need to read the instruction and they are in code so you need to figure it out and you move your dot with the arrows on right hand bottom corner of your chrome book. It is about reading the instructions correctly.

Science

Today we did some  experimenting. We used milk, food colouring and dish washing liquid and made a really cool colour thing. When we added the dish washing liquid the colours went all out and spread around the plate. The colours that we used are yellow, red, blue and green. Then we figured out that the colours spread because when the milk moves they move and the milk moves because the milk has fat in it and fat does not like soap.

This week we have been doing the Matific competition. In the video above I was doing Roman numerals. I am top 400, I was top 200  but the I dropped back over night. Kaniere School is coming first out of all the schools that are doing it.

Transformation using Grids

Today we found an accredited image on Explore and selected it to use on our page. We then put a 5x5 grid on it so we could copy the image and make it original. Mrs Minehan selected the first two images so we could understand the process, then we got to choose our own image.
I found the first one a little bit hard because I had to make it curve around.
The second one was easy because I had to use the cloud in the shapes and I liked doing this on more.
I chose the image of the tree because I am proud of what I have done and I made it look a bit more similar

I liked doing this polyline art because you made a picture on your own and I didn't give up ever though it was a little hard. 

Kenn Nesbitt

We have learned about  Kenn Nesbitt who is a poet. We all did it with Mrs Swinburn. We went onto his website and read some of his poems and then we wrote our own poem.

Dragon Clip Art

Today Mrs Minehan talked to us about the images we use off the internet. We learnt that it is best to create our own, so she showed us how to download an image from the Explore tool onto Google Drawing and then we made it our own by using the Polyline line tool to draw over it and colour it in. It was so much fun. Have you ever made your own images like this?

I liked doing this because it was fun using poly line and and colouring it in with lots of different colours. 

Autumn Leave Sun Catchers

The other day Mrs Swinburn told us to go outside and find some leaves and then we brought them in and let them dry. Then we got paper plates and painted the rim of the plates. Next we let the paint on the plates dry. After lunch we cut around out the middle of the plate. We got our leaves and then Mrs Minehan got a laminated pouch and I put my leaves in it and then laminated the leaves in the puch. After that we sellotaped the laminated leaves on to the rim of the plate. The final step was to add some string and then Miss Saddler hung them up.

Science Experiment

Today at school we did an science experiment. We put water in a cup and then we put food die in the cup and last of all we put white flowers in the cup. The flowers weren't changing that quickly so Mrs Swinburn added more food colouring. We have been waiting all day for the flowers to change colour and now they are starting to change. After the weekend when we came back to school on Monday the were mainly all coloured. Have you ever done a science experiment?

Peer Mediation

We were learning about conflict with Mrs Zuckerman. She said that conflict isn't always bad. I had so much fun. I have a question for you have you ever had to get a peer mediator and ask them for help?

A Great Classmate

We were learning and writing about being a great classmate. I think it was fun because we got to talk and learn about being a great classmate. I could improved by getting more words and find my own ideas to put on my own slide instead of telling everyone. I could work better if I stopped talking to my friends and get on with it.

All about Me

This is the first week in my new class. My teacher is Mrs Swinburn and I am in Ruma Piwakawaka. I have shared some interesting things about myself and made a self portrait using the tools on Google Drawing. Are you in a new class this year?
